PlayItNow Video Player for Mac OS X
PlayItNow Video Player is an Adobe AIR application I created so that anyone can have a video player to watch any FLV’s and F4V’s. Not many people have the ability to watch those file types on their own machines, so that was one of the primary purposes behind creating this application. This is more of a Mac only app at the moment because of there not being a file menu system for Windows. I am currently working on getting that built. Windows users can still use the app, but there may be bugs that I haven’t flushed out. To play videos on Windows, you can use CTRL + O to open a File Open window or drag and drop a video file on top of the window.
Now some would say they could just use Adobe’s Media Player to watch the movie types listed above, but in some basic app testing, PlayItNow Video Player used anywhere between 10% and 40% less CPU usage than Adobe Media Player depending on the video size, quality, etc. PlayItNow Video Player also has the ability to play other file formats as long as it has been encoded with H.264 video and AAC/MP3 audio. More features will be added over time such as fullscreen, maximizing windows, and a file menu system for Windows.
GetItNow Downloader for Windows and Mac OS X
GetItNow Downloader is a basic file downloading application that works on both Windows and Mac OS systems. If you use Safari as your primary browser like myself, you know that it treats certain file types certain ways. So if you want to download a zip file, most of the time Safari automatically unzips the file and deletes it, leaving you with an automatically created folder. This can be annoying as you could want to keep the file as a backup or would rather just open it yourself. Other files like movies can also automatically play in Safari instead of downloading them if you have the proper video codecs installed on your system. This app lets you download any file without the need for a second web browser just for downloading.
